Greening The Heartland Logo

Advocacy

The Advocacy Committee encourages local, state, and federal governments to adopt sustainable design and development through regulation, program incentives, and green projects.

The Committee ensures that the USGBC Nebraska Flatwater Chapter is viewed as the local authority on green building and strives to leverage the resources and influence of the U.S. Green Building Council to educate and advocate for state and local government regulatory authorities to adopt sustainable building principles, policies, and programs.

The Advocacy Committee is tasked with institutionalizing sustainable design and development through regulation, program incentives, and green projects. The Committee promotes the Chapter and USGBC as the Nebraska authority on green resources, thereby promoting the USGBC LEED rating system for construction projects. National USGBC supports individual chapter advocacy through their Advocacy Initiatives and the Regional Advocacy Representative.
